Climate Draft
The Climate Draft is an onramp to deeper professional engagement with climate tech. We help top talent understand how their valuable skills and experience can have the biggest impact combating climate change as advisors, investors, or team-members of climate-focused startups.
The creation of Climate Draft exemplifies how MCJ’s unique combination of content, community, and investment work together: the original idea was inspired by a tweet from Jason; it was honed in the Slack community through conversations with other MCJ members; and our first program was executed in close collaboration with the MCJ Collective fund.
The inaugural Climate Draft in October 2021 was an all-volunteer effort in collaboration with leading climate tech investors representing more than $3B AUM to connect top operators from their networks with the most exciting startups in their portfolios.
We brought together 80 high-impact operators from outside of climate, including current and former public company C-level executives, for a one month personalized onramp to climate tech featuring:
exclusive sessions with top climate tech scientists, investors, and executives;
a self-guided intro to climate tech curriculum; and
curated networking with founders of 68 leading climate tech startups.
This has already led to multiple executives taking new full-time roles in climate tech as well as valuable ongoing investing, advisory, and commercial relationships.
The Climate Draft team shares the belief with MCJ that startup-driven innovation is essential to the speed with which we must decarbonize the global economy. Our mission is to accelerate the efforts of climate tech startups by increasing the supply of world-class talent working on climate.
